Amanda's vintage diner

Since we have been on the road for almost a week, and I have been carrying my purse around so much, I have started thinking about how I could carry my doll and collection fantasies over into every day life.

I would carry a Superstar Barbie or otherwise vintage character handbag. It would contain,

an old film camera with My Little Pony or something like
pink plastic or otherwise pretty brush, comb and mirror
a Superstar Barbie wallet, like the one I passed up which made me realize that I am going to collect Superstar Barbie
a sweet journal and pens
pastel lipstick and eyeshadow colors
a special pocket would be fitted where my Madame Alexander Wendy could always look out, and she would have her brush, comb and sun hat available
a Lady Lovelylocks or Strawberry Shortcake thermos and utensil set, so that I could be eco-friendly at all times
cute handkerchiefs, for eco-friendly napkins
I would live in a magical world where I didn’t have to have all that extra shit on my key ring to get discounts, and since my key ring would only have two keys on it, I would get one of the flat metal key chains with a character like Hugga Bunch or the like on it
my iPhone would slip into a vintage Barbie or otherwise pouch

I cannot stop staring at this gorgeous set. I have been studying up on the Southwest for my trip and came across this set, really should be in Gothic Beauty. It has given me a beauty paradigm shift.

What news

It is a little early in the morning to be blogging, but life has been a total flurry. I am working like mad on Nathan's gifts and decided on the way to work this morning to only monogram his keyboard cover with an M due to the size and proportion of the letter. So I am officially done with the birthday gifts, and I can now concentrate on procuring foods and delicacies for the birthday breakfast and lunch. I am frantic because it is his thirtieth and I just don't feel like what I'm doing is good enough.

In other news, my pink dress from England is a poetic fantasy. It looks so much better than the pictures. As soon as I get a longer slip I will wear it. It is my most feminine and romantic dress.

I'm trying so hard to make a denim and lace ensemble. Next I am making
the denim jacket with a lace inset in the back, and may sew mini
pearls into the set.

Vintage style and hair

 This weekend I decided I'm going to change my hair. I want to wear vintage barrettes, especially twin ones, on each side of my head 1970's style, but my hair is too long and heavy to support barrettes. I'm going to cut about four inches from the bottom and cut bangs again. It took me almost a year to get used to the way my face actually looked without bangs. I can't believe I'm going back.

Last night I watched at least two hours of Dark Shadows while stitching, and the styles mesmerized me. I spent the rest of the evening looking through eBay for more polyester pastel dresses. I realized too that those dresses need a more refined hair style than modern dresses, and it has bothered me in the past to wear a messy bun with my peach dress.

Barbie update

Last night I got a pink plastic chest of drawers to contain all of my Barbies. It is so cute, and the color scheme of pinks and purples is so Barbie. I can't wait to be more organized. It makes dolls so much more a pleasure.

I have made so so much money selling on Den of Angels. I can't believe it. I don't even need the money, but I am thrilled, especially to have all of that stuff out of my closet. And I still have 20+ dolls to sell on eBay.

I also bought an eBay auction of 96 pairs of Barbie shoes. And they actually contain skates, which I need to complete my Ice Capades Barbie.

Like I honestly have some anxiety because I have not been obsessed with dolls lately at all (really), but I feel so content, even though I have not written or expressed my angst or anything. I feel afraid maybe I'm becoming shallow, or...? I don't know. I'm telling myself it's okay, just to enjoy these wonderful things I have and not worry about it but I feel kind of guilty.
